What classes will be in PoE 2?
Latest News on PoE 2
At ExileCon 2023, Grinding Gear Games presented fresh material for its latest Path of Exile 2 game. And reveal the date of the closed beta. During the live event, Jonathan Rogers, co-founder of Grinding Gear, declared that they were currently undergoing the development phase and that they needed to complete the storyline, augment the skills, and balance all content within this final year of development. On June 7th, 2024, the closed beta will begin. Players are nearing the conclusion of their wait, but they remain cautious in their approach and will not rush the process. Their team is taking the necessary time to ensure they achieve optimal results.
The developer presented new gameplay information for Path of Exile 2, featuring a peek at the third game act of PoE 2, set in The Jungle Abyss, a fresh location situated in the ruins of the ancient Vaal Civilization where players must traverse through thick vegetation and collapsed structures.
PoE 2 Classes Brief Introduction
One highlight of the live event was the PoE 2 classes that transformed the seven initial professions in Path of Exile 1 by introducing 19 new Ascendancy Classes and additional capabilities for the Noble, Barbarian, Rogue, and Sorceress professions. The Monk, a newly introduced profession, was showcased in a recent live stream. An eye-catching aspect of the Path of Exile series is two attribute pairing. The Monk showcased during the livestream specializes in Agility and Intelligence. Each profession variant in Path of Exile 2 centers around a unique gameplay style that allows players to exercise their creativity and combine skills from various professions to create their ideal Ascendancy Classes.
Skill Modifications
In addition, the highly recognizable Passive Skill Tree of the Path of Exile series will make a comeback in the classes of PoE 2. The Passive Skill Tree features 2,000 skills players can use to build their PoE 2 Ascendancy classes. The showcased Monk has access to a range of functional melee skills within the skill tree that can incapacitate enemies or quickly dispose of opponents with low HP.
Developers prioritized improving the mobility of melee classes during the design of PoE 2 classes. The Monk exemplifies this effort. Players can dodge and roll without a cooldown to allow fluid movement across all professions. However, to enhance the freedom of movement and prevent players from getting stuck in combat, the tranditional invincibility frames were discarded. As a result, it is crucial to use this skill with care and avoid misuse.
PoE 2 classes' control skills are going to be updated. After being subjected to Freeze and Stun, players will be required to put in more effort to maintain continuous control, but the difficulty will gradually reduce over time. To enhance the cooperative gameplay experience of Path of Exile 2 by improving the fluidity of different classes and minimizing negative interactions with control skills is the goal of this feature. Additionally, this updated system will enhance the effectiveness of these control skills in boss battles.
Path of Exile 2 also includes several other exciting updates, such as modified mods, a new soul system, and a revamped weapon-switching mechanism. However, initial plans made by Grinding Gear had to be abandoned due to the game's complexity.
Other News on PoE 2
During ExileCon 2019, Rogers announced that Path of Exile 2 would be revealed as a sourcebook for the first generation of Path of Exile. It would allow players to use the same client and share graduated content. However, as Path of Exile 2 expands, it has become more than just a guidebook with a new campaign. It introduces fresh creatures, abilities, mechanisms, and occupations that embody all that players anticipate from advanced ARPGs, as well as many revisions to the original season's content. It has been acknowledged that replacing the initial chapter with Path of Exile 2 would ruin a beloved game for no apparent cause.
Grinding Gear Games has been decided that Path of Exile 1 and Path of Exile 2 will operate independently, featuring unique mechanics, balancing, graduations, and seasons. Despite using different clients, Grinding Gear intends to share microtransactions between both games, remaining faithful to their original vision. Limited exceptions apply to items that are specific to the mechanics of each game.
