WoW Season of Discovery Phase 3
WoW Classic's Season of Discovery (SoD) is Blizzard's response to the community's desire for more classic content. Rather than releasing a full expansion, SoD takes an alternative route by adding new content that expands the WoW Classic experience.
The content for Season of Discovery (SoD) will be published in several phases. SoD Phase 1 began on November 30, 2023, followed by SoD Phase 2 on February 8th, 2024. Phase 3 is scheduled to start in spring 2024. This guide provides information on the release of SoD P3 and its new features.
SoD Phase 3 Release Date
Blizzard has officially confirmed that phase 3 of SoD will begin in spring 2024. Although a specific release date has not yet been announced, it is expected to start in May or June at the latest, as each phase is confirmed to run for at least a month but no longer than 3-4 months. It is assumed that phase 2 will not last much longer than phase 1, which ran for exactly 10 weeks. Therefore, phase 3 may start around mid-April.
What’s New in SoD Phase 3
It is known that SoD Phase 3 will introduce new content, including an increased level cap to level 50 and the addition of new runes. The specific runes to be added have not yet been announced. It is also expected that the professions level cap will be raised to level 300 (Artisan), although this has not been officially confirmed. However, the gathering professions trainer menu notes that upgrading the profession to Artisan requires level 41. Profession specializations will become available. According to Blizzard, the developers are planning something special for these at levels 50 and 60. Additionally, a level 50 raid, which has not yet been announced, will be a 20-player experience. It has been suggested that The Temple of Atal'Hakkar, also known as the Sunken Temple, may be the level-up raid in phase 3.
How To Prepare For Phase 3
To prepare perfectly for WoW SoD Phase 2, complete as many tasks as possible from the following list:
Level all classes you intend to play in Phase 3 to level 40.
Obtain as much raid gear as possible. Use our WoW SoD Build Guides to find BiS lists for your spec.
Achieve Revered reputation with Warsong and complete the weekly Ashenvale quest.
Attain at least Rank 3 in PvP. It provides a 10% vendor discount and a cloak, which is beneficial for most classes. This rank is permanent, even if you stop participating in PvP, due to the absence of decay.
To maximize your reputation with the Arathi Basin faction, it is recommended to participate in the Stranglethorn Vale PvP event and/or Arathi Basin during this phase.
Additionally, it is advisable to level your main professions to 225. If you have enough time, you can use Waylaid Supplies to earn money while levelling your professions. All the necessary information can be found in our WoW SoD Profession Guides.
It is recommended to invest your gold in items, as Phase 3 will bring inflation and devalue the gold you currently own. Investing your gold in materials that can be used for professions in Phase 3 can help secure your wealth.
Additionally, it is advisable to level First Aid to 225. Consider having at least one character with Cooking at 225.
Learn and level the weapon skills required for the next phase. It is not necessary to reach the cap of 200 at this time, but having the weapon skill learned and not starting at 0 is significant for classes like Warriors.
Obtain the necessary flight points for the next phase. If you plan on leveling through dungeons, it is beneficial to obtain the flight points beforehand.
This preparation will ensure that your characters start strong in Phase 3.
